“Orion” portrays an astronaut suspended in the darkness of space, caught between emergence and dissolution. Reaching into the unknown beyond the frame, the figure conveys a sense of movement, uncertainty and transformation. Within the gold visor, a distant and fragile Earth appears as a small blue beacon, heightening the tension between the pull of home and the vastness beyond it.
Painted in oil, Orion combines hyperrealist detail with surreal, fragmented forms to evoke an existential unravelling within the immensity of space. The luminous white spacesuit stands in sharp contrast to the near-tangible blackness surrounding it, while its dissolving edges suggest both vulnerability and possibility. Through this interplay of light, texture and isolation, the painting reflects humanity’s enduring desire to venture beyond the familiar without losing sight of where it came from.
