James MacLaren is a contemporary figurative painter specialising in oil and graphite mediums. His artistic journey is a constant exploration of the intricate realms of hyperrealism, photorealism, and surrealism.

While pursuing a Master's Degree in Chemistry at the University of Warwick, James discovered his true passion for art. As a self-taught artist, James has refined his skills through innate curiosity and passion for creative expression. He began with humble graphite studies of everyday objects and popular culture, gradually progressing to more complex hyperrealist commissions.

Currently, James's artistic focus lies on an exhilarating new collection of original artworks, unveiling six captivating paintings of astronauts. His artistry is characterised by a remarkable sensitivity to colour, light, and form, and his works transcend the boundaries of the physical world, inviting viewers into a pensive odyssey of contemplation.
